Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.


I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Snow White II


Welcome to my blog and thank you for finding the time to visit.

Two weeks ago I was lucky enough to have set the theme for the current Crafty Boots Challenge.  I chose Children's Stories or Nursery Rhymes.  I had known about the Challenge for a couple of months and I had been collecting relevant images for all of that time. By the time the Challenge was launched I has so many images I did not know which one to use, so I set myself a challenge, to make as many cards as I could during the two weeks of the challenge and try to post at least one a day.

I have now posted 22 cards and one tag and I have have managed to share most of those images with you.  If you have been travelling this journey with me I should like to say a very big thank you for all of your support and the comments you have left.  I do not think I would have continued if I thought that no one was reading my posts.

Card 23 is an image you have seen before, however I was not entirely happy with the hair of my other Snow White as I find black hair can be a little tricky.  However, I am much happier with this one.


Snow White is by Saturated Canary, I coloured the image with Promarkers and added Glossy Accents to the apples.  I mounted the image on silver mirri card and purple glitter card.  The polka dot paper is by Dovecraft.  The flowers and corner embellishments are from Wild orchid Crafts and the pearl swirl is by Kaisercrafts.

This Crafty Boots Challenge has now closed but there will be a brand new challenge tomorrow and right now I need to make my Design Team card.

Bea-Punzel

Hi

I hope you are having a great weekend.  This is my forth post of the day and I am starting to feel a little giddy!

I managed to find another interpretation of the Rapunzel story, this one is from Teddy Bo & Co and is called Bea-Punzel.


After colouring it with Promarkers I mounted it on some silver card.  The papers are from a Forever Friends stack.  The die cut hearts are all from Marianne Creatables and the little metal heart charm is from IndigoBlu.  The tiny rose buds were from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Mrs Rabbit

Day 14, post 3.

Wow, I am on a bit of a high at the moment.  I do not recall posting more than two things in one day before.

A day or two ago I had a special request from a dear friend - to include something from Beatrix Potter in this challenge.  Whilst have have nine or ten Crafter's Companion Beatrix Potter CD's, I do not have any of the stamps and there was not time to order them.  So, I have spent the last few days searching the internet for a Beatrix Potter digital stamp and I have at last found one - just the one.


This image of Mrs Rabbit came from Joyce Geleynse, the papers came from my Crafter's Companion, Peter Rabbit CD.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and added the Craftwork Cards sentiment, bow and flowers, which were from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Tomorrow sees a new challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges, please make sure you join in the fun and enter your projects into the challenge.

Mad Hatter Tag

This is my second posting of the day and it is something a bit unusual for me.

Between you and me, I am not very keen on making tags, I have nothing against tags as such, they are just me, in fact some of my crafting friends make the most amazing tags.  However, I find them messing and I do not enjoy getting my hands and workspace messy, so I tend not to do them.

However, after all of the cards I have been making I felt like a change so here is my tag.


I covered the base with Peacock Feathers, Squeezed Lemonade and Shaded Lilac Distress Inks.  The Mad Hatter and sentiment stamps are from the Alice II set which I purchased at IndigoBlu.  I coloured the stamp with Promarkers and added Glossy Accents to the watch face.

The Clock Face Charm was also from IndigoBlu.  I made the flower with a Spellbinder die.

Now, how am I going to get all this ink off my hands?

Sleeping Beauty

Good morning and welcome.

It seems I have made it, today is the last day of of my personal challenge to post a card every day for the duration of the current Crafty Boots Challenges, the theme of which is Children's Stories or Nursery Rhymes.  No one is more surprized than me!

I had a bit of an insane last minute sprint in the early hours of this morning and I actually have four cards and a tag to share with you this morning.  The first of these is Sleeping Beauty.


This fabulous couple are from Teddy Bo & Co and the image is called Sleeping Bea-uty.

After colouring the image with Promarkers I covered a shaped card from Craftwork Card with paper from a Forever Friends stack and mounted the image with silver mirri and more paper from the stack.  I then added a sentiment, a bow and some flat backed gems.

I will be back in a little will with a bit of a surprize.

Jack and the Beanstalk

Hi

How is your Saturday going?  In between making this card I have been washing and cooking lunch and making arrangements for this evening.  As I worked I started to wonder how you spend your typical Saturday?

I was quite excited when I found this image because it was unexpected, some characters are more common than others, and Jack and his beanstalk were quite a find.


I must apologise for my bad photographic skills, the backing card I chose has a mirrored quality and it has caught the light up in the top left hand corner - the bottom right is a more realistic representation of the card, I hope it has not spoilt your view of the card.

You can find Jack and his Beanstalk at Mo's Digital Pencil, the image is called They Grow so Fast.

After colouring the image with Promarkers, I mounted it on silver mirri and dark green card.  After fixing it to the shiny card I added some twine and a button.  I then cut the swirls with Spellbinder dies and added the green gems.  I also added a Craftwork Cards sentiment.

Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee

Good morning and welcome to my blog.

Day 13 of my personal challenge to post a card every day for the duration of the current Crafty Boots Challenges, the theme of which is Children's Stories or Nursery Rhymes.

For the penultimate day of this challenge I have returned to Through the Looking Glass for my inspiration.


This jolly image of Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee is from Mo's Digital Pencil and is called Tweedle.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and mounted it on silver mirri and some red glitter card.  I them made the stepper card and covered it in some cheerful paper with a bee motif from a Forever Friends stack.  The tickets are by Ranger and the flowers and insect charms are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Although I have posted cards every day for almost two weeks I still have at least half a dozen children's images I have not shared with you yet and I hope to return this afternoon with at least one more card today.

Red Riding Hood II

Whohoo!  The weekend starts here.

This afternoons card is another Little Red Riding Hood.  This sweet little image is called Little Red and comes from Mo's Digital Pencil, isn't she cute?


After coloring Red with my Promarkers I added a touch of Glossy Accents to the pocket on her cape.  I them mounted the image on some mirri card and some black glitter card.  The backing card is red polka dot mirri card.  I wrapped some butter muslin around the roses, which came from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Rapunzel

The weekend is almost here and my daily challenge is almost over.

This is day 12 of my personal challenge to post a card every day for the duration of the current Crafty Boots Challenges, the theme of which is Children's Stories or Nursery Rhymes.

I have taken my inspiration today from the Fairy Story about Rapunzel.


This Rapunzel is from Saturated Canary.  Fancy having to brush all that hair every day!

I coloured this image with Promarkers and mounted it on some silver mirri and I created my own tower.  The butterfly dies are memory Box and the florishes are Marianne Creatable Dies and Spellbinder.  The rose buds are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Dumbo II

Hi

This is my second post of the day, earlier today I posted a card depicting Little Red Riding Hood.

I make no secret of my affection for Teddy Bo and his friends, particularly Jolly and Olifant.

So I jumped at the opportunity to portray Olifant as Dumbo.  This Teddy Bo and Co image is called Olifant Smiles.


After colouring Olifant with Promarkers I mounted him on silver mirri and green glitter card. The papers are by Dovecraft and the lace trim is from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I made the wrapped star by sandwiching some Angelina Fibers between two layers of Fantasy Film and ironing then onto the star stamp using my encaustic art iron.  The Wire Art Star stamp is from Clarity Stamps.

Little Red Riding Hood

Good morning, I hope you are feeling good today.

This is the 11th day of my personal challenge to post a card every day for the duration of the current Crafty Boots Challenges, the theme of which is Children's Stories or Nursery Rhymes.  Now hands up, who thought I would still be posting cards at this point?

My card today is inspired by the story of Little Red Riding Hood.


This particular Little Red Riding Hood is called To Grandmother's House and from Mo's Digital Pencil.  Once I had coloured the image with Promarkers and clear WoS, I mounted it on some mirri card.  I then covered a shaped Craftwork Card with a paper from a Forever Friends stack.  The sentiment is also from Craftwork Cards and the ticket from Ranger.  The ribbon and pins were from my stash.

My Little Dumbo

Hi

OK, I know that strictly speaking this isn't Dumbo, his ears are no way near big enough, but this image reminded me so much of the scene from the Disney film where Dumbo gets drunk at the circus, I just had to include it in this Challenge.

This little guy is really Olifant from Teddy Bo & Co and the image is called Olifant Blowing Bubbles.

Once I had coloured the image with Promarkers I mounted it on gold mirri and green glitter card.  The paper is from a Papermania stack.  The buttons, sentiment, twine and rosette are all from my stash.

Humpty Dumpty


Good morning

Mid week already, I cannot believe how fast time is flying.  Day ten of my personal challenge to post a card every day for the duration of the current Crafty Boots Challenges, the theme of which is inspired by Children's Stories.

This mornings card is another double twisted easel card.  My inspiration for this card is the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again

The Wicked Queen from Snow White


Hi, welcome back.

This morning I posted a card featuring Snow White, so I thought it appropriate this afternoon to share with you another character from the same story.  In my opinion she is far too glamorous to be a wicked witch or queen, but it just goes to show that you cannot judge anyone just by looking at them!


This evil step-mother is also from Saturated Canary and is called The Queen.


I have coloured her with Promarkers and added some Glossy Accents to the apple and the jewels in her crown.  I then mounted the image on silver mirri card. The papers are from a paper stack by Docraft's Papermaina designed by Lucy Cromwell.

Snow White Stepper Card



Good morning

Welcome to day nine of my personal challenge to post a card every day for the duration of the current Crafty Boots Challenges, the theme of which is inspired by Children's Stories.

Today's card is a side stepper card, which was fun to make, it makes a very pleasant change to have a shaped card to decorate.


Today's image is Snow White by Saturated Canary, which I coloured with Promarkers and added Glossy Accents to my Granny Smith apples..


I mounted the image on some silver holographic card and some polka dot paper by Dovecraft.  The blossom flowers and butterfly charm are from Wild orchid Crafts and the 'story' ticket is from Ranger.  The happy birthday sentiment is from Kanban.

Today, I am hoping to be back later with another card.

Rock-a-bye Baby


Welcome back to my blog

Owww, this is exciting and something of a milestone for me, my second post of the day.  I hope I am not outstaying my welcome.

This afternoon's card is inspired by the nursery rhyme Rock-a-bye Baby.

Rock-a-bye baby, on the treetops,
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock,
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall,
And down will come baby, cradle and all.


My cradle image comes from Teddybo & Co and is called 'Rock a Bye Baby'

I coloured the image with Promarkers and mounted it and, the blue paper, on silver mirri card.  I added a few gems and some ribbon from my stash.  The sentiment is from Kanban.

Another Little Mermaid

Good morning and welcome to day eight of my personal challenge to post a card every day for the duration of the current Crafty Boots Challenges, the theme of which is inspired by Children's Stories.  I want to thank everyone who has left me words of encouragement. There really would be no point in doing this if I thought no one had looked at my blog. Thank you all so very much, your messages mean so much to me.

How was your weekend?  I had a lovely relaxing time.  Just me, a stack of images and my pens, what could be better?  Well, I suppose the weather could have been better, it has turned quite chilly and wet.

So, day eight, I can hardly believe I am still managing to post a card a day.  Actually, I still have lots of images to share with you and in order to do that by the end of this challenge I think I am going to have to get my finger out and start posting two cards a day from now on.

If you have been following my journey you will remember that I made a card last week, featuring the Little Mermaid.  That one was a lovely Sylvia Zet stamp of a a merchild, today she is all grown up!


This Little Mermaid is Pearl by Saturated Canary.

I coloured Pearl with Promarkers and added crystal gems to her hair where the original image had small bubbles - I tried colouring them with clear WoS, then I tried Glossy Accents but neither looked right, so in the end I went with the small crystals.  I then mounted her on silver mirri and green glitter card.  The papers are by DoveCraft.

The White Rabbit


Good morning

Day seven of my personal challenge to post a card every day for the duration of the current Crafty Boots Challenges, the theme of which is inspired by Children's Stories.

I cannot believe that a week has gone by already, it's true, time really does fly when you are having fun.

And talking about time flying, I think most people associate this character with time.  He is of course, the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.


I have cheated a little with this card because I made a very similar card earlier this year in brown.  However, today I decided to make it in purple.  (Between the two of us, I was going to make it in red but I could not find a red Wink of Stella pen anywhere, do they make one?)

I coloured selected parts of this IndigoBlu stamp with my purple Wink of Stella pen and mounted it on silver mirri and purple glitter card.  I added 4 purple flat backed gems to finish it off.

Cinderella

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Good morning

Another day, another card.  Day five of my personal challenge to post a card every day for the duration of the current Crafty Boots Challenges, the theme of which is inspired by Children's Stories.

Today's card was inspired my the lullaby Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.


This image is Swinging on a Star by Teddy Bo & Co. I coloured the image with Promarkers and made the star with glitter and Wink of Stella Pens.

This is a new shape of card for me and I really like it, but I have no idea what you would call it.  I think you will be seeing more for this shape from me.


I love using mirri card and glitter but it makes photographing anything very difficult and there are lots of reflections and glare!

Oh, I almost forgot to say, the moonstone brads are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

The first verse of this song was very familiar to me, and in fact was a big, big favourite of my niece when she was about three.  However, I recently discovered that it has a lot more verses ....

Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are.
Up above the world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky.

When the blazing sun is gone,
When he nothing shines upon,

Magical Fairy

Good morning and welcome to day four of my personal challenge to post a card every day for the duration of the current Crafty Boots Challenges, the theme of which is inspired by Children's Stories.

Now, what Fairy Tale is complete without a fairy, and here is mine, a vision in mauve and purple! Many of the really good children's stories have a fairy, remember Flora, Fauna and Merrywhether in Sleeping Beauty, Pinoccio's Fairy with Turquoise Hair and Tinkerbell in Peter Pan.


This little lady is Whispy from Saturated Canary, isn't she a sweetie?

As always, I coloured this image wih Promarkers and then mounted it on silver mirri card an some purple glitter card.  The papers came from my favourite paper stack from Docraft's Papermaina by Lucy Cromwell;  The decorative metal corner came from Wild Orchid Crafts and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards, which I got from the Crafty Boots on-line store.

Alice in Wonderland

Good morning.

Day three of my personal challenge to post a card every day for the duration of the current Crafty Boots Challenges, the theme of which is inspired by Children's Stories.

My card today is inspired by Alice from the books Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll.

This version of Alice is by Mo Manning.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and mounted it on silver mirri card and glitter paper from DoveCraft.


The flowers and butterfly charm are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I also added some die cut swirls and flat backed gems from my stash.

I am really enjoying looking at all the cards that have been entered into the Crafty Boots Challenge, don't forget to enter your favourite project.

The Little Mermaid

Good morning and welcome to Day 2 of my personal challenge to post a card every day for the duration of the current Crafty Boots Challenges, the theme of which is inspired by Children's Stories.

My card today was inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson story of the  Little Mermaid.


I have had this sweet little image by Sylvia Zet for some time but have never used it before, it is called Goldie.  I coloured the image with a combination of Promarkers and Wink of Stella pens. I added Glossy Accents to her tail and to the bubbles.

I then mounted it on some gold patterned mirri board and glittered papers.  The backing papers come from a Docrafts Tatty Teddy paper stack and DoveCraft.  I have had the turtle charm is actually an old brooch and the ticket is one of the Ranger range.

Little Bo Peep

Good morning

I am sooooo excited today.  Today sees the start of another challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges and this time the theme has been set by me.

The theme is Children's Stories.  This could be modern stories or something more traditional, for example Roald Dahl or Lewis Carroll, or something more classical like a Fairy Tale.  Or it could be a Nursery Rhyme.

I have been collecting images for this challenge for months and I have so many.  When it came to making my mind up about which one to use for my DT card, well, I just couldn't make up my mind, I wanted to make them all into cards.  So, I have set myself a challenge, I have not counted how many images I have, but I must have over a dozen and I am going to try to post a different card every morning for the duration of this challenge.  They may not all be new images or ones illustrating specific stories, I shall also be raiding my extensive collection of images and rubber stamps and using my imagination.

Anyone who knows me well will tell you that it takes me hours to make a card.  Therefore, I do not anticipate much housework getting done for the next two weeks, in fact, my hubby could be lucky to get fed!

For my first card I have chosen the nursery rhyme 'Little Bo Peep'.


I have been wanting to make a double twisted easel card for ages but had not found the perfect pair of images, that is, until now.  Bo Peep and her sheep are both Mo Manning images and they are just what I was looking for.


I coloured them with Promarkers and mounted them on silver mirri card and some purple glitter card from DoveCraft.  I also added a bow and a small bell to Bo's shepherds crook.


After making the basic double twister easel card I covered the base with some white and purple polka dot paper from Papermania and added some white satin ribbon and some purple organza ribbon, I also added two purple buttons to act as stops.

I also printed the words to the first verse of the nursery rhyme and mounted that on some silver polka dot mirri card.  

If you have never come across this rhyme, the words are ......

Little Bo-Peep has lost her sheep,
And can't tell where to find them;
Leave them alone, And they'll come home,
Wagging their tails behind them.

Little Bo-peep fell fast asleep, 
And dreamt she heard them bleating;
But when she awoke, she found it a joke,
For they were still a-fleeting.

Then up she took her little crook,
Determined for to find them;
She found them indeed, but it made her heart bleed,
For they'd left their tails behind them.

It happened one day, as Bo-peep did stray
Into a meadow hard by,
There she espied their tails side by side,
All hung on a tree to dry.

She heaved a sigh and wiped her eye,
And over the hillocks went rambling,
And tried what she could, as a shepherdess should,
To tack each again to its lambkin.ind them.

Baby Shower

Good afternoon

I hope you are having a fabulous afternoon.

A friend of ours is having a surprise Baby Shower this afternoon - which is why I have scheduled this post for so late in the day.

Unfortunately, I was not able to go to the party but I sent this card with my other friend.


I created a side stepper card and added some polka dot mirri card.  I then added some stickers and an Anna Griffin sentiment.  I also added a small piece of card for my message.


The image is from Saturated Canary and is called Ice Cream and Pickles (although I made my pickle into a small banana because just the thought of ice cream and pickled gherkins made me feel quite queasy.).  I coloured it with Promarkers and added a small amount of Glossy Accent to the cherry to give it that shine.

Pearls in My Hair

Good Morning

I should like to say a special hello to all of my new followers, it is so nice to discover that someone new has joined this very elite group, please leave a comment when you have the time, I would love to hear from you.

Today I have a birthday card for you.  A very dear friend of ours was 84 this week.  I normally talk to her two or three times a day by emails and see her as often as I can, which is not as often as I would like, because she lives over one hundred miles away.

Over the years cockatiels have become a bit of a joke between us and as soon as I saw this digi stamp I knew I had to get it for her next birthday card.  I had great fun turning all of the little birds into cockatiels!



I am afraid I do not know what this fold is called but I am sure it has a name.  The image is called Pearls in My Hair and it is from A Day for Daisies.  They have some really lovely images and I should like to thank Elaine for pointing me in their direction.


I coloured the image with Promarkers and mounted it very simply on silver mirri board and covered the card with a sheet of pretty paper from a Docraft Papermania stack designed by Lucy Cromwell, which I have had in my stash for a while.  I also created a space inside the card for my birthday message.

A few days ago it was my BFFs wedding anniversary.  I am not saying how many years but it is a few now, but it feels like yesterday.  It is true time does fly.  Here is the card I made for her and her gorgeous hubby.


The image is from Bugaboo Digi Stamps and is called Ava and Deacon Love Word.  I coloured it with Promarkers and mounted it on silver mirri card and some fabulous papers from a Docraft Papermania stack designed by Lucy Cromwell, which I bought some time ago but have been saving for that special occasion, and some fabulous purple glitter card made by Dovecraft.

I then added a bow and some cherry blossoms from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The butterfly charm also came from WOC.

I also added a little Glossy Accents to the hearts, just to make them stand out a little and to add some texture to the card.

Crafty Boots Challenges 1st Anniversary

Good morning

It is hard to believe but it really is the first anniversary of the Crafty Boots Challenges, which means that I have been sharing my work with you for just over a year.  Wow, that time has gone by so fast.

There is a new challenge today to celebrate this special milestone.  The theme is ONE.  One what is entirely up to you - one colour, one element, the number one, one layer.

I have chosen a cross stitch embroidery of one teddy bear, balancing the number one on his foot.


I stitched this design on 14 count aida.


This is from a very old and much loved collection of designs called Honey Pots.  I have been making these bears for 15-20 years.  I first made them for my nieces and nephews and now I am making them for their children.

The charts are very dog-eared and the staples no longer keep all the pages in the book.  I am sure this will not the last time you will see these cute teddy bears on my blog and I hope you will grow to love them as much as I do.
