Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Sing a Rainbow

Good morning

I could not decide whether to call this post 'All Creatures Great and Small' or 'Sing a Rainbow'.  I went with 'Sing a Rainbow' because for the next two weeks at Crafty Boots Challenges the theme chosen by the fabulous Emma M is Rainbows - either actual rainbows or the colours of the rainbow.

As you can see I have been playing around with the idea of the colours of the rainbow. Mind you, in order to do that I had to recall the colours of the rainbow, emm, how did that song go?  I could not remember and had to resort to looking it up on the internet:

Red and yellow and
Pink and Green
Purple and orange and blue
I can sing a rainbow
Sing a rainbow
Sing a rainbow too

Listen with your eyes
Listen with your ears
And sing everything you see
I can sing a rainbow
Sing a rainbow
Sing along with me

Imagine my horror when I discovered that the song I had been mumbling along to most of life had got it wrong. Apparently the colours of the rainbow are actually - Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet.

I made my rainbow out of clothes pegs, I got the idea from the talented Mrs Beez:

Mm, they are a little difficult to see, here are some close ups.

Red

Yellow

Orange

Green

Blue

Indigo

Violet

I took some wooden pegs and gave them a coat of Gesso. Once that was dry I painted them with acrylic paints.

I then covered the tops with glitter and sprayed the pegs with Crafter's Companion's silver Spray and Sparkle to hold everything together.
Once everything was dry I decorated each peg and added magnetic strip to the back.

The rest of the Design Team have made some wonderful projects, please take a look for yourself and then enter your own project.

Good luck.

Suspenders!

Good morning

I have another Saturated Canary stamp to share with you today, this one is called 'Suspenders' and it is is one of the range of rubber stamps available from the Crafty Boots store.

I struggle with cards for men, I like to add lots of pretty embellishments to my cards, but you cannot really add flowers and lots of charms to cards for the men in your life, can you?

Even without the charms and flowers I was very pleased with this card.  I stamped the image onto Crafty Boots Delux Crafters Card and I coloured it with Promarkers.  The coordinating papers are from Stampin' Up, as is the stamp I used for the sentiment.   I coordinated the glitter paper by colouring a white sheet of Glimmer Paper with one of my Promarkers.

For the past couple of weeks Crafty Boots Challenges have been all about the things we celebrate, birthday's marriages, new homes, births. graduating, passing a driving test.  There is still time to enter your latest project.

Good Luck.

Welcome Babygirl

Welcome

Regular visitors to my blog will know that we have a new baby in the family and last Monday I shared one of the cards I made with you.

Today I have a second New Baby card to show you, I made this one for the very proud grandparents.

The image is one of Mo Mannings, from Mo's Digital Pencil, the image is called Babygirl S.

I coloured it with my Promarkers and the papers are from my stash.  The roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts and in truth, I cannot remember where I got the teddy bear charm from.

Over at Crafty Boots Challenges the current theme is celebrations, why not pop over there and join in the celebrations by adding your  latest creations.

Good luck.

Time to Celebrate

Good morning

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

I am almost bursting with excitement today.  A new challenge starts today at Crafty Boots Challenges  and I have been given the privilege of selecting the theme, after a lot of umming and ahhing, I chose 'Celebrations' - birthdays, anniversaries, births, a new home, in fact anything you might celebrate.

A new generation is establishing itself in our family and this week we welcomed the latest addition, the beautiful Erica Rose and I have made a card celebrating her arrival.

This touching image of mother and child is from Saturated Canary and is called New Baby.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and then spayed it with Crafter's Companion's Iridescent Spray and Sparkle.

I then mounted it on lilac glitter card and papers from the Forever Friends paper stack, New Arrivals.  These papers and very pretty and quite delicately coloured, unfortunately such delicate shades do not photograph well.

Finally, I added a number of silver charms that I have been collecting for just this purpose.

The rest of the Design Team have come up with some fabulous designs, please pop along to the Crafty Boots Challenge blog and have a look and don't forget to enter your own projects into the challenge, I am really looking forward to seeing them.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Turtles Friend

Hi

Whatever happened to all the fabulous weather we had last weekend?  I am feeling distinctly chilly today.

I have been playing with some of the MelJen stamps which are available from the Crafty Boots store, this range of stamps are new to me but the images were just what I wanted for my young nephew's birthday card.

This particular stamp is called Turtles Friend.

I stamped the image on Crafty Boots Delux Crafter's paper and coloured it with Promarkers.  I then added some Glossy Accents to his spots.

I cut my nephew's name and age out with my recently acquired Sizzix Bigz alphabet dies and mounted everything on Stampin' Up papers.  I loved how all of my Stampin' Up papers coordinated.

Don't forget that the current Crafty Boots Challenge is used a stamped character, why not dust off your old stamps and enter one of your designs?

Have a great weekend.
