Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Anything but Square

Good morning Blogland

I hope that you had a marvelous weekend and are ready for the coming week.

Over at Crafty Boots Challenges there is a new challenge today.  The very talented Faye has set the challenge of 'Anything but Square'.

Emm, anyone who regularly visits my blog will not have failed to notice that I like my square cards so this has been a bit of a challenge for me.  However, for a long time now I have wanted to try my hand at making a rocker card, so this is my first attempt at one.

These fabulous little girls are from Saturated Canary's rubber stamp range which are available from the Crafty Boots on-line store, they are called 'Walkie' and 'Talkie'.  I coloured them with Promarkers and replaced their string with bakers twine.

Talkie

Walkie

I cut the largest of my Grand Scalloped Circles from craft card and folded it in two.  I then cut a smaller circle in blue pearlescent card.  I also cut a number of flourishes from the off cuts.

I also decorated the card with some powder blue flat backed gems and as you can see, a number of pink butterflies have crept into this design too!

The rest of the Design Team have excelled themselves.  Pop over to Crafty Boots Challenges and take a look and don't forget to enter your project whilst you are there.

Good luck.

Pretty Pink Butterflies

Hi

It's almost the weekend - yea!

I have enjoyed this week and all of my pink butterfly projects.  Today I have some more ATCs and between you and me, these are my favourite set of the week.

These Memory Box butterfly dies are so pretty and I think that tthe pink pearlescent card looks terrific on the mint green glitter card.  I added some green flourishes cut from mirri card and a few flat backed gems.

There is still time for you to enter your pink butterfly creations into this Crafty Boots Challenge.

Lupin and Butterflies

Good morning

The other day I posted a card I had made with one of the images I had won when I entered a Eureka Challenge, this is the other image I chose.  It is called Butterfly and Bluebonnet from Eureka Stamps (In the UK these pretty flowers are known as lupins.)

I coloured it with Promarkers and mounted it on pearlescent card.  The background paper is by Papermania and the sentiment from Craftwork Cards.  I cut the butterfly from more pearlescent card using Memory Box dies, the flourish die is Marianne Designs one.  The rosette die is the Tim Holtz one.  The two tone ribbon is from the lovely Really Reasonable Ribbon people.

Butterfly Fairy

Hi

The weather here today has been so mixed, stormy, overcast, drizzle and sunshine.  It's one of those days when you know it is going to end in a headache.  But nothing lifts the spirit quite like crafting.

The theme of the current Crafty Boots Challenge is 'Pink Butterflies' and this little lady, from A Day for Daisies, is called Butterfly Fairy.

After colouring the image with Promarkers I added glitter to the wings and mounted it on pearlescent card.  The background paper is by Papermania and the sentiment from Craftwork Cards.  I cut the butterflies from more pearlescent card using Memory Box dies and the ribbon is from the lovely Really Reasonable Ribbon people.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Sunflowers and Butterflies

Hello again, how is your day going?

Mine has been pretty busy but I just have time for a quick post .... more pink butterflies!

A few weeks ago I was so excited because I actually won a challenge.  I hardly ever enter other people's challenges, so winning one is a really rare event.  My prize was two digital images of my choice, this is beautiful image is one of my selection.  It is called Butterfly and Sunflowers from Eureka Stamps.

I coloured it with Promarkers and mounted it on pearlescent card.  The background paper is by Papermania and the sentiment from Craftwork Cards.  I cut the butterfly from more pearlescent card using Memory Box dies, the flourish die is from Cheery Lyn Deigns.

Pretty in Pink

Hi, I'm back with more butterfly ATCs.

This week Crafty Boots Challenges is all about pink butterflies.  I have been having so much fun letting my imagination run riot and my craft room is overrun with butterflies.

I used a Martha Stuart punch to make the butterflies out of pink pearlescent card and I added tiny flat backed gems to their centers.  The pink glitter card was from my stash and the daisies and the gem brads are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The two tone ribbon is from the Really Reasonable Ribbon people.

I am sure you have lots of ideas of your own for pink butterfly projects.

Pink Butterfly ATCs

Good morning

I am trying to be a bit more organised today ..... and I may even return later to post another set of ATC's or a card!

But first I want to show you this set of pink butterflies ATCs.  My apologies, I am afraid that the weather is overcast today and I had some trouble getting the lighting right for the photographs.

The butterflies are from a set of three Marianne Creatable dies, cut from pink pearlescent card.  The background is lemon glitter card.

I hope you have a good day.

A Small Rabble of Butterflies

I'm a bit late with my posting today, I just don't know where the day went today.

The current challenge over at Crafty Boots Challenges is 'Pink Butterflies'.  I understand from the internet that the collective noun for a group of butterflies is a rabble. Although, some sites also list flight, swarm, flutter, kaleidoscope and rainbow. Perhaps all the alternative names stem from the disbelief that a group of butterflies could be described as a rabble.

Since I first heard about this challenge my mind has been full of ideas for projects but I confess that I have been having trouble finding the time to make them in order to share these ideas with you.  However, I had a little free time yesterday and the first project I would like to show you is a very simple card with my rabble of pink butterflies.

Using pink pearlescent card I used a Martha Stuart punch to make the butterflies.  I added small flat backed gems to the butterflies to give the card a little glitz.  The sentiment is by Craftwork Cards.

The rest of the Crafty Boots Challenges Design Team have have made some wonderful projects to inspire you.  Please pop across and see them.

The Butterfly House

Hi

What on earth happened to the lovely weather we had last week, was that our summer?  I am back to putting on the layers today!

Still, we have a new challenge over at Crafty Boots Challenges today and it makes me feel all summery just thinking about it!  The new theme, which was chosen by the lovely Emma T, is 'Pink Butterflies'.  Such an inspiring theme, I have had loads of ideas about the projects I could make and I struggled to decide which to make for my Design Team piece.

In the end the decision was not that hard because this one idea started to become something of an obsession.  In my minds eye I imaged a butterfly house, with lots of pretty flowers for the butterflies to flit around.

I gave the wooden house a coat of Gesso and once it was dry I painted it with acrylic paints, white roof and walls, cream trim and green grass.

I left it overnight to make sure it was completely dry before adding grass and flower effects using Flower Soft.

I added some pretty cream lace along the edge of the roof,

and some pearls around the entrance.

The lilac and white roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Finally, I printed a host of bright pink butterflies from the internet and added them to the decor.

I had so much fun making my butterfly house.  I am sure I will be back later in the week posting some of the other ideas for pink butterfly projects I had, please check back to see what I have been up to.

The rest of the Design Team have made some fabulous projects, please find time to take a look on the Crafty Boots Challenges blog, and don't forget to enter your own projects into the Challenge.

Good luck.

Belated Birthday Card

Hi

I hope that you are enjoying the same fabulous weather as we are having at the moment, it is just too good to be indoors but I wanted to quickly post this belated birthday card.

I think this image is perfect for a late card and, because I was in a hurry today, I cheated and used a tag I already had and added it to so gold mirri card.

I made the tag by covering a blank white tag with Peacock Feathers, Squeezed Lemonade and Shaded Lilac Distress Inks.  The Mad Hatter and sentiment stamps are from the Alice II set which I purchased from IndigoBlu.  I coloured the stamp with Promarkers and added Glossy Accents to the watch face.

The Clock Face Charm was also from IndigoBlu.  I made the flower with a Spellbinder die.  Th ribbon, which matches the distress ink colours so well, is from the Really Reasonable Ribbon people.

I must dash to get this card in the post now!
