Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Vintage Jaguar Car

Good grief, I think winter has returned.  In fact, because we had such a mild winter, the weather we have been experiencing is actually worse than the winter.  We have had hail, sleet and snow.  I have been lucky because none of the snow has settled, but severe weather warnings have been issued for other parts of the country.  The last couple of evenings have been very cold here.

I am still experimenting with cards using a single colour, this idea came to me when I was thinking about the current Crafty Boots Monochrome Challenge.

This lovely Vintage Jaguar Car image came from Delicious Doodles.  I coloured it with a red Promarker and then mounted it on some silver mirri and some Real Red card from Stampin' Up.  The backing papers also came from Stampin' Up.  The sentiment was printed on my computer and the Card Candy is from Craftwork Cards.

There is still plenty of time for you to enter your monochrome projects in the Craft Boots Challenge.

Good luck.

Fabulous at Fifty

How is your week going?  It has turned very cold here, yesterday we had hailstones and snow.  I am sure the weather is gearing up for a spectacular weekend because we have a Bank Holiday in the UK. One of my sisters was born on 11 April and I remember getting up one year to find think snow on the ground on her birthday but I do not remember it being this bad so close to May.

Whilst we cogitate on whether we need to get the flannel out of storage again, let us think of happier things, like the current Crafty Boots Challenge ... Monochrome.  As the lovely Crafty Boots ladies agree with my old art teacher that black, white and all shades of grey are shades and not a colour, I have been experimenting with single colour cards.

I used a Presscut Center Stepper die to make the card blank, the panel dies are also included in the set.  The panels are cut from blue glitter card and, keeping with the glitter theme, I used the Stampin' Up balloon punch.  I made the sentiment on my computer.

Why not pop over to Crafty Boots and enter your monochrome project into the Challenge - but don't forget you only get to use one colour.

Good luck.

Monochrome Madness

It's time for a new challenge over at Crafty Boots Challenges, for the next two weeks we are asking your to go monochrome.

Now, of course, we are looking forward to seeing lots of black and white designs but, if you wish, you can use one colour.  The Design Team decided that your one colour does not have to be white, black or grey (they also agreed that you will not be penalized for using flesh tones on skin).

Inspired by this idea I decided that I would have a go at colouring an image using just one colour, what do you think?

I coloured Teddy Bo and Co's image 'Dressmaker Bea' with every yellow Promarker I could find.  I then mounted it on some silver mirri.  The yellow paper is from Stampin' Up and the buttons and ribbon are from my stash.

So why not share your monochrome madness with the Crafty Boots Design Team and whilst you are there, take a look at the other ideas the Design Team came up with.

Good luck.

Thoughts and Prayers

Today is your last chance to play long with the current Crafty Boots Challenge - 'Use a Sentiment'.  In fact there are just a few short hours.

My final DT card for this challenge features a Bugaboo block stamp entitled 'Thoughts and Prayers'.

After colouring the flowers with Promarkers I mounted the block image on black card and a white pre-cut scalloped edged card from Craftwork Cards.  I also printed a deepest sympathy sentiment on my computer and mounted that on black card.

Back here tomorrow morning for the next Crafty Boots challenge.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Daisies

I really should think about scheduling my posts more, I completely forgot that I intended to share this card with you yesterday.  So, better late than never as they say.

This sweet little girl is from Saturated Canary, the image is called 'Easter Dress'.  Once I had coloured her with Promarkers I mounted the image on silver mirri and some orange card.

The dp is from Studio Calico and the flowers were made with a Joy Craft die and the centers are card candy from Craftwork Cards.

There is still time for you to enter the current Crafty Boots challenge, use a sentiment.

Have a great weekend.

Spring Bringer

We have reached the midway point of the Crafty Boots 'Use a Sentiment' Challenge.  There have been so many gorgeous entries in the challenge already but there is still loads of time for you to enter your projects.

It has been a beautiful weekend, well once it stopped raining, blue skies, bright sunshine but cold in the shade and freezing at nights.  Further north I know my Crafty Boots Team Mates have had snow and I am grateful to have missed it.

My thank you card today features a Sylvia Zet image called 'Spring Bringer'.    As you can see I coloured her with Promarkers and then mounted her on silver mirri card.  I cut a step card and covered it in green card.  The sentiment is a Stampin' Up stamp.  Finally I added some daisies from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I hope you have a great week.

Sabrina Revisted

Today is the birthday of my oldest and bestest friend, we have been friends since school.  This is the card I made for her.

The stunning image is Sabrina from Saturated Canary.  Once I had coloured her with Promarkers I mounted the image on silver mirri and red card.  The paper is from a DoveCraft stack.  The butterfly is a Memory Box die, as is the rosette die.  The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.

I have heard very mixed weather reports for this weekend, but I hope that where ever you and and whatever you are doing, the sun shines on you and you have a splendid time.

Mariko is Back

Thank you for dropping by today, I look forward to your visits.

As you know, the current challenge at Crafty Boots is to use a sentiment.  I have a craft box full of handy sentiments, so no problem!

The card I would like to share with you today is from Mo's Digital Pencil and is called 'Mariko is Mad'.  I just adore that sulky look on her face and I am sure I have seen it dozens of times on my sisters face when we were growing up!

After colouring the image with my Promarkers I mounted it on some gold mirri and pumpkin orange card.

The paper came from a K & Co paper stack by Tim Coffey.  The die cuts and Card Candy came from my stash.  The all important sentiment came from Craftwork Cards.

There is still loads of time for you to enter your projects in this Crafty Boots Challenge.

Good luck.

Use a Sentiment Challenge

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  We had a lovely time at the theatre on Saturday and then we went to visit an old friend yesterday.  The weather on the two days could hardly be more different.  Saturday was very cold with torrential showers all day and then, after a very cold night, yesterday was a beautiful spring day.

Today sees the start of a new Challenge at Crafty Boots, the theme for the next two weeks is 'Use a Sentiment'.  A bit of a no brainer really, I almost always add a stamped or shop made sentiment my cards.

My card today is a favourite Sylvia Zet digital stamp called 'Sweet Blossoms'.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and then mounted it on gold mirri and green card.  I did the same with a stamped Happy Birthday sentiment.

The backing paper is from Stampin' Up and the flowers are by Petaloo.  The doily and twine are from my stash.

If you are stuck for ideas, the Crafty Boots Design Team have been very busy making samples to inspire you, make sure you take a look at them.

Good luck.

Splash!

Woo hoo, it is Friday!  I am really looking forward to this weekend because we are off to the theatre tomorrow.  I love the theatre and we try to go half a dozen times a year to our local theatre - it is a very friendly theatre where they all seem to know us, it is very intimate yet they perform a wide variety of shows and they are very talented group.  They started out performing plays in the ruins of an open air theatre and they have gradually got the money together to build a small theatre and now they are building a second, larger auditorium and entertainment complex.  They are a real success story.

But before I get carried away with my weekend plans I want to share the last of the cards I made for the current Crafty Boots Challenge 'Spring in the Air'.

This cute little image is called 'Splash!', it is from Mo's Digital Pencil - isn't she sweet?

I coloured the image with Promarkers and mounted it on some gold mirri and Real Red card, it and the red polka dot paper are from Stampi' Up and the green floral paper is from a DoveCraft paper stack called Back to Basics II.  The sentiment is by Craftwork cards.

These spring cards have been such a joy to make and there is still a little time for you to enter your spring projects into this Crafty Boots Challenge.

Good luck.

Lambing Time

I am back today to share a card featuring another of my favourite Sherbet Pip images.  This one is called 'Lambing Pip'.

As, usual, I coloured this image with Promarkers.  I then mounted it on some mirri card and some Stampin' Up's Garden Green card.  The lovely designer papers are also from Stampin' Up.

The sprig of ivory cherry blossoms are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the sentiment is from CraftWork Cards.

Here Chick, Chick, Chick!

I have a busy day today but I just have time to make a very quick post to share another spring card with you.  As you probably know, the current challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges is 'Spring is in the Air'.

Either this Sherbet Pip character is very small or those chicks are very big and I would not want to be around when they grow up - I prefer to think that Chicky Pip is not very big.

After colouring the image with Promarkers I mounted it on silver mirri and some blue card.  I made the balloon shapes with a punch from Stamping up.  I cut thin stripes of blue card to make the strings.  The paper is from a DoveCraft paper stack called Back to Basics II, both the ribbon and doily came from my stash.  I made the sentiment on my computer.

There is still lot of time for you to enter your spring projects in the Crafty Boots 'Spring is in the Air' Challenge.

Good luck.

Savannah and Her Chicks

What strange and mixed weather we are having, warm and sunny one minute and hailstones the next,  It is certainly April showers .... and everything else at the moment.

Over at Crafty Boots Challenges the theme of the current challenge is 'Spring is in the Air'.  I have been taking this opportunity to dig out some of my favourite spring images, lots of lamb, spring flowers and chicks!

This is one of my all time favourite images and I really love colouring it.  The image is from Mo's Digital Pencil and is called 'Savannah on Easter' although I think it is more than just Easter and makes a lovely spring birthday card.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and mounted it on some silver mirri and dark blue card.  The lovely polka dot paper is from a DoveCraft paper stack called Back to Basics II.

There is still plenty of time for you to enter your spring projects in this challenge, so pop over to the Crafty Boots blog and link up your project.

Good luck.

More April Showers

How was your weekend, they seem to fly by faster and faster these days.

We are at the midway point in the current Crafty Boots Challenge, the theme of which is 'Spring is in the Air'.  This week we have two terrific Guest Designers, if you have the time, please check them out.  I know you will not be disappointed.

April to me says April showers and my card today is from Teddy Bo & Co, no prizes for guessing that the name of this image is 'April Showers'.

After colouring Taddy Bea with Promarkers I mounted her on silver mirri and some purple card.  The papers are from a DoveCraft stack called Back to Basics II.

Now don't forget to pop over to the Crafty Boots blog to see all of those lovely inspirational designs and to enter your spring projects into the challenge.

Good luck.

April Showers

A pinch and punch it's the first day of the month!

Regular visitors will know that the theme of the current Crafty Boots challenge is 'Spring is in the Air'.

It may only be the first of the month but we have already seen plenty of April Showers this week and I could certainly do with a sturdy pair of Wellington Boots and a big umbrella, just like this little guy.

He is from Mo's Digital Pencil and is called 'Sunshine'.  After colouring him with Promarker I mounted him some gold mirri and Real Red card.  I did my best to cut a cloud freehand to put my number 6 on.  The rather stormy looking backing paper is also from Stampin' Up and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.

Make sure you enter your spring cards into the Craft Boots Challenge.

Happy April!
