Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Smile Please

I am beginning to think that the elves that live with my niece and her family live a very good life, every day is an adventure for them.  On the other hand, my niece is so lucky tat her elves do not play wicked pranks on her!

Just look what they got up to last night .........

Louis' girlfriend is a pretty good artist, she certainly has all she needs to pursue her hobby - including a willing subject.

I wonder, if we asked her nicely, whether she would paint Ryan and his sister.  I think that would make a wonderful Christmas present for their mum and dad.

I have just spotted the tiny rag she has cleaned her dirty brushes on and look at her palette.

and it really is a good likeness of Louis.

Oh, and Louis' girlfriend wanted to show you her dress today, it is one of her favourites.

See you soon.

Bright Nordic Dress - Day 12

This stunning Nordic snowflake pattern is another pattern variation by SuzieMarie called 'Nordic Dress'.

The basic dress design is by Julie Williams and can be found ine her 'Seasonal Dresses' leaflet on Ravelry. These patterns were designed to fit the 'Little Cotton Rabbits' series of soft toys.

I knitted this little dress in soft 4 ply cotton.

Go Hide and Seek

Have you missed our little elves?  Well, this weekend our elves took advantage of Ryan visiting Grandma and they went to the North Pole to file another report on Ryan and his sister.

Due to all of the snow yesterday Ryan had a snow day today and was not at school, so the elves decided that it would be fun to play Hide and Seek with him.  The game lasted ages but he eventually found them hiding in the linen basket.

Once the game was over Ryan and his mum played Snap with a pack of giant Snap cards the elves bought back from the North Pole.  Everything went really well until Ryan's little sister decided to throw all of the cards in the air and they landed all over the room - she is only 15 months old and I guess he did not quite understand the rules of Snap!

Fun for everyone.

Deep in the Forest - Day 11

There is something about this stripped back pine forest which I find very attractive.  I am sure some people will feel that is represents the aftermath of a nuclear winter, with the stick trees and golden sky, but I find the design compelling.

It is another pattern variation by Suzymarie  called 'Winter Woods' based on Julie Williams 'Seasonal Dresses' leaflet.  As with many of the dresses in this series, I have knitted it with the fuller skirt option - I think I prefer it to the tighter sundress design.

I have made it in soft 4 ply cotton.

Afternoon Tea? - Day 10

I think this is the perfect dress to go out to afternoon tea wearing, isn't it fabulous?  Just look at that huge cherry on the top of each cake.

This cup cake pattern is a suppliment to the Julie Williams 'Seasonal Dresses' leaflet and can be found on Ravelry as a free download

I have made the dress with a fuller skirt to accommodate our bunnies fluffy tail.  I just love this airforce blue colour, isn't is wonderful?  As always, I have used 4 ply cotton to make this dress.

Paper Chains - Day 9

I have another festive dress to share with you today.  As you can see my glamorous assistant is modelling this fetching little number in blue and pink.

This is another pattern from the Julie Williams 'Seasonal Dresses' leaflet. This design is called 'Little Waves', but I think it looks a lot like the paper chains we had when I was a child.

I added a few baubles to complete the Christmas effect.

Gone Fishing

So where did our little elves disappear to last night?  A quick look around the house and they were no where to be seen in the lounge or the kitchen.  They were not in their own little house either.  Perhaps this note will help?

So where are they?  Well here they are in the bathroom - fishing.  They have even bought Pom along.

Oh look, they have even caught something on their tiny fishing line and Louis is trying to get into the net.

It is quite surprizing how many fish you can find in the average bath!

Let's have a closer look.

It's a long way down, they better be careful they do not fall in.  I wonder how good elves are at swimming?

Let's see what kind of outfit the fashionable elf wears to go fishing these days.  They look very cosy.  Good job too, it's been really cold here today.

Snow Flurries - Day 8

After warming right up earlier in the week it has turned much colder today and they are threatening snow, the real stuff this time.  Rather appropriately our dress pattern today is called 'Snowfall Dress', it is by the very talented SuzieMarie.

The dress is another of SuzyMarie's variations on the Julie Williams 'Seasonal Dresses' pattern. The original pattern was designed to fit the 'Little Cotton Rabbits' series of soft toys.

I knitted this dress in 4 ply cotton.  With all of these snowflakes I think this is another wonderful design.

Open House - Welcome to the World of Elves

I am not sure whether all elves live in a toad stall, what do you think?  My Niece Katie has managed to get some more photographs of the inside of the home of the elves staying with her and her family.

After a night of making mischief the two of them were tucked up in bed before the family awoke.  They seem to have made themselves at home, I think they must have bought more stuff back with them after their visit to the North Pole earlier this week.  I can see a tiny skateboard and one of those globe nightlights.

They look amazingly cosy in their bunk beds.  Is that a black cat curled up asleep on the floor, or perhaps it is a small rug?  Emm, not sure.

Oh look, another picture of Santa and it looks like someone has been reading again.

I thought the elves had cheated and managed to get their Christmas stocking filled before December 25th, but apparently they contain yummy gifts for Ryan and his sister.

It looks like our elves found time to decorate their lounge and I love their new rug and the throw on the sofa, they look so festive.

I just love the bunting and the tiny snowflake decorations.

What is this, an elf bathroom.  Trust them to put up decorations in the smallest room of the house.  I have just spotted one of their new jumpers in the laundry basket.

What is this on the seat of the lavatory, a message saying 'Do Not Open'.  What can be going on here? ......Oh look at that tiny loo roll!

Now, that really is what I would call too much information, chocolate elf poo.  (I wonder what happened to the rest of the pack ....... Ryan?)

Heartfelt Best Wishes - Day 7

Perhaps this dress would be more appropriate for Valentine's Day than Christmas Day but it is far too pretty to leave out of this collection.

This lovely design is one of Julie William's Season Dress Designs for her Little Cotton Rabbits range.  It is made with 4 ply cotton on very fine needles.

I will be back tomorrow with another lovely dress.

Snow from the North Pole

Our two little elves have been back to report to Father Christmas and they bought back a little present for Ryan.

Snowballs.   However, they very cheekily suggested that they were to throw at his mum.

I understand that he took every opportunity he could take to do that today, I think he had a great deal of fun

........ I think his mum did too!

Classic Navy and White - Day 6

Today my glamorous assistant is modelling a smart little number featuring a Nordic snowflake design.

This dress is made from 4 ply cotton and is based on the Julie Williams basic dress pattern and features the Nordic snowflake design from her Mini Christmas Stockings pattern.

I love the crisp colours of this dress.

Cooking up some Fun

Last night Ryan and Lucy's elves found the kitchen and cooked up a storm.

They baked a special breakfast for them, pancakes all round

and it looks like they made also pancakes for themselves.

Pancakes with Smarties, no wonder this has been Ryan's favourite morning so far.

Just look at those tiny cooking pots and utensils.

I think Louis has eaten his fill!

Later they hit the town and boogied the rest of the night away.

I wonder what these two will get up to tonight.

Dotty about Christmas - Day 5

My dress today probably does not automatically shout Christmas at you, but I thought that if you are going to be playing dress-up with my 'Little Cotton Rabbits' in July you would prefer not to have a dress covered in Christmas trees, so I have included a few every day dresses in this collection.

This dress pattern comes with the pattern for the little bunny, it is called Bunny Girl in a Dotty Dress, it is made of 4 ply cotton

Have a great day.

Twister!

Wowzer, these elves know how to have a good time.  Saturday evening they went to the movies and last night they played Twister with their toy friends.

How much fun does this look like?

I wonder what they will get up to this evening.
